“Modern women are suffering from an energy crisis. Competing in the workplace, caring for aging parents and trying teenagers, and busier than ever, we use anything we can to duct-tape our lives and ourselves together: comfort foods, alcohol, energy drinks, and an expanding array of antidepressants, anti-anxiety meds, painkillers and amphetamines. All in an effort to maintain our unnatural pace.

Welcome to the increasingly altered states of America. Americans are about 5% of the world’s population, yet we take half its pills, and 80% of its painkillers. This over-medication has led to record numbers of opiate overdoses and also to a growing number of women taking antidepressants — one out of four and counting, according to a report issued by the pharmacy benefit manager, Medco.” (Julie Holland, MD: http://www.cnn.com/2015/03/03/opinion/holland-women-depression-drugs/)

I congratulate Dr. Holland, a psychiatrist, on speaking the truth. And the thing is, she didn’t mention all the consequences for women living lives that are this out of balance. I’d add to her list menstrual difficulties, infertility, anxiety and panic, joint pain, muscle weakness, migraines, chronic pain in general, chronic sinus problems, weak immune system, heart problems, reflux, bloating, constipation, and food sensitivities. It’s a scary list and I’m sure I’ve left things out.

Fortunately, there is a way for women to restore balance and pull out of this cycle of fear and overwhelm that leads to reliance on medication, fear of foods and dependence on external solutions.

What’s needed is a way to restore confidence in your body, honor your body’s natural rhythms, and rebuild your energy.

It’s time to consider Qigong.

After a career of exploring promising ways to activate our innate self-healing abilities, I believe that Qigong is the best way to get your health back.

Practicing Qigong has more overall health benefits than going to the gym and from taking the latest supplements and following and diet plan of the hour.

How can this be?

Qigong works with your energy foundation. Modern science has established that everything is energy. In human terms, energy (Qi) is your life force and the messages it contains to guide you to be yourself. Qigong rebuilds your relationship with yourself, with your body and with your spirit. Qigong movements stimulate vital energy channels in your body helping to strengthen internal communication, getting the whole body to work in harmony. Opening these energy channels also helps you be more in tune with messages from Nature. They help build flexibility and strengthen intuition.

Take a look at the programs and services that I offer at Budding Spring Healing. You could start with Qigong for Women’s Health, or the Dragon’s Way® Program (this is for men, too!). Or come to see me for Medical Qigong and we’ll come up with a more individualized program.

Start today. With spring energies behind you, it is a great time to make this commitment to your health.

And, Men. I haven’t forgotten you. Most of you are overstretched, stressed out and out of balance too. I’m offering Qigong for Men’s Health to help you get started on self-healing.
